2019 BLACK EXCELLENCE ON THE HILL

On Monday, February 4, 2019 the MBLLC welcomed over 200 guests to the State House in celebration of Black History Month. The annual event featured a robust speaking program including:

• Lt. Governor Karyn Polito
• Senate President Karen Spilka
• House Speaker Robert DeLeo
• Treasurer and Receiver General Deborah Goldberg
• Reverend Talbert Swan
• Representative Chynah Tyler
• Representative Bud Williams

 
The event culminated with the Black & Latino Caucus honoring 45 community leaders from across the Commonwealth. Nominated by their legislators, the leaders represented various municipalities and industries as they accepted unique citations from the Caucus for their work.
 
A few notable honorees included former MBLLC members Rep. Gloria Fox, Rep. Shirley Owens-Hicks, Rep. Raymond Jordan, and Rep. Benjamin Swan. A full list of the honorees can be viewed in the attachment below.
