BOSTON APPOINTS WILLIAM GROSS AS IT'S FIRST AFRICAN-AMERICAN POLICE COMMISSIONER
On July 23, 2018 Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh announced that William Gross, the Boston Police Department's (BPD) current Superintendent in Chief, will be taking over as commissioner of the police force. Gross was selected as a successor to BPD's current commissioner, William Evans, and will be the first African-American to hold the post for the city. View our full statement of congratulations below.
